terms and conditions

About These Terms

Amie’s Kitchen terms and conditions apply when you use the Amie’s Kitchen website, request a quotation, place a food order or book catering services with us. Please read them carefully before confirming an order or booking.

By accepting a quotation, confirming an order, paying a deposit or asking us to begin providing services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

In these terms:

“Amie’s Kitchen”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Amie’s Kitchen, a catering business based in Bournemouth, United Kingdom.

“Customer”, “you” and “your” refer to the person or organisation purchasing or requesting our food or catering services.

“Order” includes pre-ordered meals, snacks, collection orders and delivery orders.

“Booking” includes catering arrangements for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, private gatherings and other occasions.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Our Services

Amie’s Kitchen provides freshly prepared food, pre-orders and catering services for private gatherings, weddings, birthdays, corporate events, community celebrations and other occasions.

The food, menu options, quantities, staffing, equipment, delivery arrangements and other services included in an order or booking will be set out in the quotation or confirmation provided to you.

We may discuss alternative dishes, portion sizes or menu options based on availability, dietary requirements, guest numbers and the nature of the event.

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. However, photographs on our website and promotional materials are illustrative, and the appearance or presentation of handmade food may vary slightly.

Enquiries, Quotes and Orders

You may contact us by telephone, email or through the website enquiry form.

An enquiry does not create a confirmed order or booking. A booking becomes confirmed only when:

  • We have accepted the order;
  • The menu, date and other important details have been agreed;
  • Any required deposit has been received; and
  • We have sent confirmation to you.

Quotations are based on the information you provide, including the event date, location, guest numbers, menu choices and service requirements.

Unless otherwise stated, a quotation is valid for the period shown on it. Prices or availability may change if the quotation is not accepted within that period.

You are responsible for checking that all details in the quotation or confirmation are correct. Please notify us promptly if anything needs to be changed.

Prices and Payments

Prices will be confirmed before an order or booking is accepted. Prices may depend on the selected menu, quantities, number of guests, delivery location, staffing, equipment and other requirements.

Any delivery fees, service charges or additional agreed costs will be explained before confirmation.

Payment must be made using an accepted payment method and by the date stated in the quotation, invoice or booking confirmation.

If payment is not received by the agreed deadline, we may suspend preparation, withhold delivery or treat the order as cancelled after giving reasonable notice.

You are responsible for any additional cost resulting from changes that you request and that we agree to provide.

We will not add unexpected charges after confirmation without explaining them and obtaining your agreement, except where an additional cost arises from inaccurate information supplied by you or circumstances that could not reasonably have been identified earlier.

Deposits and Booking Confirmation

We may require a deposit to reserve an event date, begin preparations or purchase ingredients and supplies.

The amount of the deposit and the payment deadline will be stated in the quotation or booking confirmation.

A date is not reserved until the required deposit has been received and we have confirmed the booking.

Deposits are applied towards the total price of the order or catering service.

If you cancel, we may retain only an amount that reasonably reflects losses or costs directly resulting from the cancellation, including ingredients already purchased, preparation already completed, committed staff or supplier costs, and loss that we could not reasonably avoid.

We will take reasonable steps to reduce our losses where possible. Nothing in this section allows us to impose an excessive cancellation charge or affects your statutory rights.

Changes to Orders

Please contact us as early as possible if you wish to change the menu, guest numbers, delivery time, collection time, venue or other booking details.

Changes are subject to availability and must be accepted by us before they become part of the order.

A requested change may affect the price. We will explain any additional charge before confirming the change.

Reductions in guest numbers or quantities may not always result in a full price reduction where ingredients have already been purchased, food preparation has started, or other non-recoverable costs have been incurred.

We may refuse a requested change if there is insufficient time to arrange it safely or if ingredients, staff or equipment are unavailable.

Any important change should be confirmed in writing by email or message so that both parties have an accurate record.

Cancellations and Refunds

You may request cancellation by contacting us as soon as possible.

Any refund will depend on:

  • How much notice is provided;
  • Whether food preparation has started;
  • Whether ingredients or equipment have already been purchased or hired;
  • Whether staff or suppliers have already been committed;
  • Whether we can reasonably reduce or recover our losses; and
  • Any statutory rights that apply.

We will not automatically keep all payments where our actual loss is lower than the amount paid.

Because food is perishable and catering may be arranged for a specific date, some general cancellation rights may not apply in the same way as they do to other online purchases. This does not affect any legal rights you may have where services are faulty, incorrectly described or not provided with reasonable care and skill.

If we cancel and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, we will refund payments received for services that we do not provide.

Approved refunds will normally be returned using the original payment method within a reasonable period.

Collection and Delivery

Collection and delivery arrangements must be agreed before confirmation.

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, telephone number and any access instructions.

We will make reasonable efforts to deliver or prepare an order for collection at the agreed time. Delivery and collection times are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Delays may arise because of traffic, weather, road closures, venue access or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will contact you where possible if a significant delay occurs.

A responsible person must be available to receive the order. If delivery cannot be completed because nobody is available, the address is incorrect or access is unavailable, additional delivery or waiting charges may apply where reasonable.

Once food has been collected or delivered, it should be stored, handled and consumed according to any instructions provided. We are not responsible for deterioration caused by improper storage, prolonged exposure to unsafe temperatures or handling after collection or delivery.

Event Catering

For event catering, you must provide accurate information about:

  • The date and location;
  • The expected number of guests;
  • Venue access and parking;
  • Available preparation, serving and storage facilities;
  • Electricity, water and equipment where relevant;
  • Serving times;
  • Dietary and allergen requirements; and
  • Any venue rules or restrictions.

You are responsible for obtaining permission from the venue for our access, equipment and catering activities.

Where guest numbers increase, additional food or service may be available only if agreed in advance and may involve an additional charge.

If attendance is lower than expected, this does not automatically reduce the agreed price where food, staffing or equipment has already been arranged for the confirmed number.

We may need reasonable access to the venue before the event to set up and after the event to collect equipment.

Loss of or damage to hired equipment caused by the customer, guests or venue may be charged at the reasonable repair or replacement cost.

Allergies and Dietary Requirements

You must inform us about allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements before confirming an order and as early as possible before the event.

Please do not rely solely on general menu descriptions. Contact us directly for current allergen information relating to a particular dish.

We will provide information about any of the regulated allergens used as ingredients in our food where required.

Although we take reasonable care when preparing food, ingredients may be stored, handled or prepared in environments where allergens are present. Unless expressly confirmed otherwise, we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from traces of allergens.

You are responsible for passing relevant allergen information to every person who will consume the food.

We may refuse or recommend changing an order where we cannot safely meet a particular allergy or dietary request.

Customers with serious or life-threatening allergies should discuss their requirements with us before placing an order.

Food Quality and Complaints

We aim to provide fresh, high-quality food and professional service.

Please inspect your order as soon as it is delivered or collected. If anything appears incorrect, missing, damaged or unsuitable, contact us immediately so that we have an opportunity to investigate and offer an appropriate solution.

Where possible, please retain the food, packaging, receipt and photographs relating to the issue.

Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, an appropriate solution may include:

  • Correcting or replacing part of the order;
  • Re-performing an affected service;
  • Providing a reasonable price reduction; or
  • Issuing a full or partial refund.

Complaints should be made promptly, particularly where the issue concerns food quality, temperature, quantity or an incorrect item.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights where food or services do not meet legal requirements.

Customer Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate order and contact information;
  • Check quotations and confirmations carefully;
  • Pay agreed amounts by the required deadlines;
  • Inform us promptly of changes;
  • Provide complete allergen and dietary information;
  • Ensure safe and lawful access to the venue;
  • Treat our staff and suppliers respectfully; and
  • Follow storage, reheating and consumption instructions.

You must not resell food supplied by Amie’s Kitchen unless this has been agreed in writing and all applicable food safety and labelling requirements are met.

You are responsible for the conduct of guests and for protecting our staff and equipment from unsafe or abusive behaviour.

We may suspend or leave an event where our staff face violence, harassment, serious abuse or unsafe working conditions. Any payment or refund decision will take account of the services already provided and the reasonable losses caused.

Events Outside Our Control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

These may include severe weather, flooding, fire, road closures, transport disruption, power failure, venue closure, illness, government restrictions, supplier failure or other emergencies.

If such an event occurs, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and take reasonable steps to reduce the disruption.

Where possible, we may offer:

  • A revised time;
  • A suitable alternative menu;
  • A replacement date; or
  • Cancellation and an appropriate refund for services not provided.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded.

For customers acting as consumers, we are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made.

We are not responsible for deterioration or contamination caused after delivery or collection by incorrect storage, reheating, handling or failure to follow instructions.

Where a customer is acting wholly for business purposes, liability for business losses, loss of profit or loss of opportunity may be limited to the extent permitted by law and subject to the specific written agreement between us.

Nothing in this section affects statutory consumer rights.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes to our services, business practices, website or legal obligations.

The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

The terms that apply to an order or booking will normally be those provided or available when the order was confirmed, unless:

  • A change is required by law;
  • You agree to the change; or
  • The change benefits you without placing you at a disadvantage.

Please review these Terms before placing a new order or booking catering services.
